Felice Arena and Gary Lyon’s book, Specky Magee & The Best Of Oz, it has a mixture of romance, drama, motivation and inspiration. The book has a big 268 pages of spine thrilling drama and will keep you entertained for the experience of a life time. Simon ‘Specky’ Magee lives in a little town in Victoria called Camberwell; there he has his beloved Booyong High lions which he plays with as a weekly Saturday game.

Specky Magee was selected to go on the all Australian team, to travel to Ireland and play Gaelic football. Gaelic football is way out of Specky’s comfort zone because he is so used to playing the sport he loves, Footy.

But the trip isn’t all luxury, because back at his home there are two girls wanting to date him, their names are Samantha and Christina. They put pressure on him by saying he has to make the decision by the time he gets back; as if that’s enough pressure to put on him mind. The pressure of being a goal keeper for their team makes him want to put down the offer of being goalkeeper for Manchester United. Recently he was offered to trial for goalkeeper as Manchester United.

Trying to get used to a round ball is sure a difficulty in playing the game that the Irish love dearly, but they won’t give up as they play the most important game of their life. If they lose they will let down the team and Australia, but if they win, they will be the most proud kids anyone could know. That is what’s going through their minds over and over again, and that makes them more determined to beat the Irish on their home ground.

I don’t normally like reading at all but when I started to read the Specky Magee series I couldn’t wait to get home and read. So when I read the first book there was no stopping me, I’ve now got the whole series which I’ve read twice and There is not one series that is as exciting as Specky Magee. If you like Football, reading and inspiration this is the book for you.
